Explosion 2023

Gateway sculpture for Whitecliffe housing estate sited on a disused chalk quarry in Ebbsfleet Valley, Kent.

Chalk is a soft, white sedimentary rock composed of the mineral calcite, formed deep under the sea over millions of years. The work is inspired by a calcite crystal, whilst also alluding to an explosion of energy. Turquoise illumination highlights its dramatic shape at night, referencing the water bodies across the local landscape.
