Sun Catcher 2020
A suspended light installation in the main atrium of Rowan View Hospital, Merseyside. Designed to create a relaxing and sensory environment for staff, visitors and service users.
49 blown glass ‘raindrops’ with custom light-diffracting optics, project vivid spectral colours around the space in moments of sunshine. During low winter sun, the adjacent office spaces are bathed in saturated colour, adding a sense of warmth during the darker months. In the evening, the work glows with energy-efficient fibre optic illumination, enhancing visible prismatic effects within the glass.
Commissioned by Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust.
